» Image Schemas: Sensorimotor Experiences in Natural Language »
Within the tradition of embodied cognition, image schemas have been proposed by Lakoff and Johnson as cognitive building blocks to capture recurring physical experiences that shape higher level cognition, e.g. natural language and problem-solving. Few approaches have been proposed to automatically investigate the interplay of these sensorimotor patterns and natural language. In this talk I will present work on two different methods to identify image schemas in natural language: neural language models and knowledge engineering. When juxtaposing these two approaches, especially explainability of decisions comes into play.
